Saints, San Marcos top the Top 10
There wasn't much change in the Top 10 this week, but that doesn't mean there wasn't much action.
The top-ranked Saints played one game this week - against Top 15 opponent Carlsbad - and won going away 61-36. They stay atop the rankings this week, heading into some serious tests in the Platinum Division of the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas.
San Marcos was able to repel the closest challenger to the No. 2 perch, Torrey Pines, in a much-ballyhooed nonleague contest on Friday. They also head to Vegas for the Tark Classic, but not before a Monday night contest against La Costa Canyon (spoiler alert, they lost).
Torrey Pines' remains at No. 3 despite the loss to San Marcos, by virtue of Mission Bay's idle status and its head-to-head win over Cathedral Catholic.
The Dons went 1-2 in their annual trip up north for the Jesuit Tournament, but losses to Archbishop Mitty and Jesuit aren't bad losses in the grand scheme of things. They remain at 5.
San Ysidro stays at 6 after running the table in Imperial County this weekend at the Tigers Classic, the best win coming against Valhalla in the championship.
Mission Hills checks in at No. 7 with a win over La Costa Canyon. They get a crack at Torrey Pines on Wednesday.
San Diego and La Jolla Country Day each move up a spot to No. 8 and 9, respectively following LCC's loss.
And, re-entering the Top 10 is Mater Dei Catholic, which was idle this week but gets a huge boost with the end of football season.
La Costa Canyon slipped out of the Top 10 at No. 11, but look for them to move right back in after a dominant win over San Marcos to start the new week.
