That's So Tavid: Tavid Lee Johnson headlines the All-FTH Freshman Team
To say Tavid Lee Johnson entered his freshman year with high expectations would be an understatement. The Francis Parker guard netted multiple Division 1 offers before playing an official high school contest, the first San Diego prospect to do so since Mikey Williams in 2019.
And much like Williams, Johnson delivered on those expectations in a big way.
The 6-2 combo guard averaged 24 points per contest, good for fourth countywide, and also contributed 5.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He led his team to the Division 1 playoffs, where they nearly knocked off the eventual runners up, Scripps Ranch, in a first-round OT defeat. The Coastal League named Johnson to the all-league first team.
He can add another title to the list: Johnson is the Full-Time Hoops Freshman of the Year.
Here is the rest of the All-Freshman Team
1st Team
Richie Ramirez, 6-2 G, San Marcos
Ramirez started the season and couldn't miss. He finished the year averaging 13.4 points per game, shooting 50% from the field, 39% from deep, 3 rebounds and a team-leading 3.4 assists per game.
Tristan Anderson, 5-8 G, Olympian
The high-scoring guard was a blur for defenders to contain. Anderson averaged a team-high 16.5 points on a blistering 60 percent FG shooting, and a team-high 3.4 steals per contest. His 513 points set the Eagles single-season scoring record.
Lamar Smith, 6-4 F, San Diego
A starter for the Cavers from Day 1, Smith had an unsung freshman campaign, averaging 13 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block per game, and did it against Western League competition.
Anthony Etheridge, 6-5 W, Saint Augustine
A starter on an Open Division team, Etheridge didn't have the gaudy stats as some of his classmates (4.6 points, 3.3 rebounds per game), but he steadily improved throughout the year and gave the Saints a lengthy defender and high flyer in transition.
Justin Johnson, 6-5 W, El Camino
The wiry and hyper-athletic lefty showed flashes of brilliance in an up-and-down freshman year, averaging 6.1 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.

Speedy and poised, Stokes was a solid scoring option for the Barons, averaging 8 points and 2 assists per game for the D1 squad.
