There are few things more certain in San Diego CIF basketball than the Torrey Pines breakout senior.
Every year, a Falcons junior role player will emerge as the team's primary option and often will become one of the section's top players. This list includes players like Sam Worman, Finn and Marek Sullivan, Brandon Angel and Logan Huston over the years.
This season, it was Cody Shen.
Shen, a 6-3 senior guard, was the Falcons' third-leading scorer a season ago on a team that finished second in the North County Coastal League and had a disappointing first-round loss in the CIF Open Division playoffs.
In his final season, Shen nearly doubled his scoring output (from 10.3 to 18.1 points per game) and led the Falcons to an undefeated North County Coastal League championship over the overwhelming favorites, Carlsbad. Shen saved his best efforts for league rival Lancers, scoring a combined 71 points in the two victories, a feat that earned him league player of the year.
Shen is your Full-Time Hoops Breakout Player of the Year. Here's the rest of the All-Breakout Team
